EdTech Leadership Institute

Concurrent sessions, peer networking, two keynote presentations, a sit-down lunch…all in one day!  The fourth annual Educational Technology Leadership Institute (ETLI) will be held on Sunday, December 4.  This small, “conference-in-a-conference” is designed for divisions and school level administrators as they face the challenge of visioning, planning and implementing educational technology.

Dr. J. David Martin, Acting Superintendent of Henry County will provide the opening keynote. Titled “What’s Technology Got to Do With It?” his talk will discuss how implementing new educational technology initiatives require collaboration between instructional and technology leaders. Yet, while these two groups speak the same language, their different dialects can often lead to misunderstandings and confusion. How do we help these groups collaborate effectively?

Educational Technology Leadership Institute attendees will be part of a very special luncheon symposium discussion related to planning for and implementing the use of mobile devices in schools.  The distinguished panel of speakers will include

Jean Weller,
Office of Educational Technology, Virginia Department of Education,
Chris O’Neal, iPad Pilot Coordinator,
Virginia Department of Education,
Janet Copenhaver, Director of Technology,
Henry County Schools & Dottie Betts, Henry County ITRT, and
Travis Allen, Director
iSchool Initiative

This year’s focus will be how instructional and technological leaders can work effectively together.  A morning keynote, ETLI-only breakout sessions, and a luncheon symposium will be the major events, and ETLI participants will be able to choose afternoon breakout sessions from the full conference schedule.

While you may attend ETLI only, we encourage you to stay for the rest of the conference.
